Julia Alexander

With over 20 years of experience in the entertainment and media industries, Julia brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to ALAPC. Her diverse background combines business, legal, and production expertise, offering clients unparalleled insights and strategic guidance. Before law school, Julia gained hands-on experience in production roles, including documentary filmmaker, production executive, coordinator, director’s associate, and writer’s assistant, laying a solid foundation for her legal career.
After law school, Julia was mentored by top entertainment attorneys and provided business and legal affairs solutions for major independent domestic and international clients. Her expertise spans intellectual property, rights acquisition, development, production, distribution, and finance. She honed these skills further at Netflix and Disney, where she worked on high-profile projects and complex transactions. Julia is also a certified mediator, enhancing her ability to navigate negotiations and resolve disputes effectively.
Beyond corporate roles, she has been a speaker and panel moderator at ABA Forums on Sports and Entertainment Industries and North American Law Summits, a guest lecturer at UCLA Extension, and a published author for Lexis Practice Advisor: Intellectual Property and Technology. Recently, Julia expanded her practice to include Life & Legacy Planning, a natural complement to her work in entertainment transactions. Having guided producers, production companies, distributors, and financiers through intellectual property rights, business structuring, and creative asset protection, she understands the importance of safeguarding legacies—not just for creators but also their families and heirs. By integrating estate planning, Julia ensures clients' business and personal interests are holistically addressed, providing continuity and peace of mind. With a family of avid horse enthusiasts, Julia also advises on equine trusts and related planning, ensuring beloved animals are cared for as part of a client’s broader estate strategy. Whether structuring, negotiating, drafting entertainment transactions, or planning for personal and business success, Julia delivers comprehensive evaluations and actionable insights. Her dedication to her clients’ well-being, both professionally and personally, defines her collaborative and pragmatic approach at ALAPC.
